– All right, today I’m gonna try to convince people here at Vat19 to eat an entire jar of these super spicy Carolina Reaper pickles for 100 bucks. But, there’s gonna be a twist to this game that could cost them everything. Before we find out who wants to play, we gotta run an experiment. Let’s go.
(upbeat music) All right. Time to do my jar of pickles test. So, we gotta figure out how long it takes someone on average to eat this entire jar of pickles. But I don’t wanna eat all this spice right now so I’m gonna use a regular jar of pickles to kinda figure out what’s a fair time limit for this challenge.
Let’s start getting these out. Little splishy splash. Start the timer now. Mm, that’s good.
Should I be going for speed, I don’t even know. It’s not really making me feel that full so I don’t think it’s gonna be a problem for anybody fitting all of this in their stomach. The spice is gonna be the issue. They’re good pickles but…
That was a jar of pickles. That was three minutes and 52 seconds. I don’t think I was rushing too hard. I think we’ll make it six minutes so it’s doable.
And then they all experience the little twist at the end. Hello Erica. – Hello. – I want you to win 100 bucks today, okay.
– That’d be cool. – All you gotta do is eat this jar of pickles. – They look good by themselves, but I don’t know if I can have a whole jar. – I hate pickles.
– You hate pickles? – I do not like them whatsoever. – Here’s the thing, I love spice, I hate pickles. I love money. – What’s wrong with pickles? – They’re disgusting.
– No, pickles are good. I just ate a whole jar of pickles. – Why? – You wouldn’t do it for me? – No. – Your husband? – No, I’m good.
Sorry. – All right, love you. – Love pickles. – Perfect.
– Hate Carolina Reaper. – But how much do you love money? – Love money. – I swear to myself every time I’m not gonna do these again and this time I’m gonna listen to my past self. – Okay. – I’m out.
– I don’t know that physically I could do it. – Well say goodbye to the 100 then. – [Kara] I know. – Goodbye Carrie. – Goodbye.
– You won’t get me today. I’m a little bummed I haven’t gotten any takers yet, but I’m confident somebody here wants to make a hundred bucks today. (upbeat music) Hey, what’s up Kyle? – What’s going on? – I know you just started working here like three hours ago. – Yeah.
– I’m curious if you wanted to make a hundred bucks by eating this jar here of spicy pickles? – I’m down, let’s do it. – We got one. I’m excited. All right.
I know you can handle spice. I got a hundred bucks if you can eat this entire jar of spicy pickles in six minutes. – It’s spicy, and it’s pickles, so I’m 100% in. – I need you to know you’re gonna have a partner in this challenge, and you and your partner each have to finish this jar in six minutes for you to get the hundred bucks.
You still in? – I’m still in, I want those pickles. – Okay. That’s two down, two to go. It’s money and pickle time, guys.
– I like both of those things. I like one of those more than the other. – Eat the entire jar in six minutes, you got a chance to win the hundred. – If you’re my partner you better finish those pickles.
– I’ll finish them. I’m not worried about finishing the pickles, I’m worried about this mystery that you may or may not get the money. And it’s up to your partner. – Look, I’m just adding a little twist to this, guys, for my own enjoyment.
– [Danny] I’m in. – All right. You’re in? – When I tested these pickles I loved them and I couldn’t stop eating them, so I’m definitely in. – Perfect, I needed four, we’ve now got four people.

– It’s spicy. – It’s spicy, but it’s really good. I’ve tried one of these pickles before and they’re very spicy, but they’re not so spicy that I think this is gonna be much of a challenge. – I’m feeling pretty good, I’ve done a lot of spice here.
I’m a little worried about Kyle. Mostly just because I don’t know. But he’s a big dude, he eats a lot of food, so I think he can probably hold his own. – Ugh, how do people eat pickles? – Well pickles are amazing.
– Pickles are terrible. I was promised $100, so that’s why I’m doing it. – Oh. There’s the brow sweat.
– I love pickles, and I love spice. And this shouldn’t be a problem. It definitely looks like more than it did before the challenge started. – Mm-hm. – Hoo.
Wah. (sighing) – This is really hot. We’re used to insane, like the hottest stuff in the world. This might be harder than I thought.
But the first one was so good. – First bite is spicy, but it’s not killing me. (gurgling) It’s got a lot of pickle taste. And just some severe heat.
– It’s like a baby with a flame thrower. – Oh my god. – This is America. – This is America.
– I thought the heat would overpower the pickle taste, but it’s just making it worse. – Let’s just get rid of those. – I am struggling. – I don’t know if you saw that, but I just blew on the pickles as if– – Did it help? – The temperature was hot.
No, it didn’t. – I really don’t know if I’m gonna finish this challenge. – I don’t think I can do this, dude. Can you eat my pickles too? – Nope.
– Can you eat your pickles? – I don’t know. – I’m trying to swallow these pickles but they’re fighting back. You saw the last one, it didn’t go down the hatch. The hatch is closed. (dramatic music) – Let the juice spill down your chin.
(coughing) – Almost there. (gurgling and coughing) – [Man] Uh oh. – [Danny] What was that? – You’re done, I’m so close. – 15 seconds.
– I don’t know, man. – Oh my gosh. Thank you. – I got it, I don’t got it.
– No. – Sorry man. – You tapped out? – I’m tapped out. (buzzing) – Good job. We did it. – Good job guys.
Valiant effort. – My nose is running. – I’m proud of you guys. – Thank you.
– Not proud enough to give you any of the money. – That’s okay. – Sorry, sorry about that. – It’s a gentleman’s game.
– Hey, great job. Congratulations. That was amazing. You were the only team to actually finish.
– Really? – There’s the hundred. Now here’s the deal guys. There’s a surprise. You each have a piece of paper and a marker in front of you.
What I want you to do is write one of two words on it. Either share, or steal, okay? Now, if you both write share on your piece of paper, you split the 100. You each get 50. If only one of you writes steal, then that person gets to keep the 100, and your partner gets zero.
If you both write steal, you both get nothing. Okay, we’re calling this the prisoner’s pickle. – [Joey] After the prisoner’s dilemma. – Yes.
So you have two minutes to talk amongst each other and decide what you’re gonna do. But don’t show your partner what you’ve written down. Hope you enjoyed my surprise. (groaning) – I would feel so bad stealing from you right now.
– I know. – The way we both feel. – I would feel really bad, you shared my pickle, my last pickle. (laughing) I can’t steal from you. – Yeah. – I don’t like that this is pitting us against our coworkers. – I know.
It’s evil. – I think I know what I’m gonna do. – Yeah. Me too.
I’m just gonna turn. (quirky music) Oh, I feel weird now. – Did you trick me? – I know, the look in your eye. When we turn.
I feel really bad now. (suspenseful music) In three, two, one. – Did you share? – Yay! – Yay! We did it. – Yes. We each get to keep 50.
I’m so glad. – I know. I wouldn’t steal from you. – If it were against Danny I would’ve stolen for sure. – Yeah, I understand.
You gotta play who you’re pitted against. – But, I would’ve felt really bad stealing from you. Congratulations, we made it. – Congrats.
– All right, we both earned that one, big time. That was rough. – I’m never doing that again. – Oh no.
(peppy music) – It feels like I’m drinking vinegar the whole time. They’re just so thick and big. (burping) Oh, I’m better now. (gagging) That one counts.
